Over the past few years, humans have made many advancements in technology. Today, with a click of a few buttons, we can access a vast sea of information. Despite the many advantages of the internet, there are downsides too as the internet could abused in a harmful manner. On the internet, it's easy for people to build a character which is completely different from who they really are.
One example is the dark story of the an internet user. On the surface, he may seem like a nice guy, giving people free lessons through several online platforms. However, everything took a turn when he suddenly went silent on all his internet accounts. Months passed and people grew worried about him. At the time, the FBI received information about a man who was abusing his own child. That man was him. The news spread all over the community and it became clear what had caused his disappearance. This had shown us that how people portray themselves in the online platforms may sometimes different than their actual selves.
For that reason, you must never trust the people you meet online. You never know who could be behind that computer screen. Perhaps a clueless minor? Or maybe a cyber criminal. Therefore, when surfing the internet, do not give your personal information to anyone, especially if you just met them. It's important that you verify certain website you visit as well, as it is possible that the website might be trying to steal your data. Finally, never open any suspicious files or click on links sent from an anonymous user. By doing this, you'll be able to ensure your private data is secure.
In conclusion, when meeting online friends, you have to be cautious at all times to avoid the risk of putting everyone that you know in danger.
