Anxiety And Depression: "I'm fine"

Updated: Mar 27, 2021

“I’m fine”. Those are usually the words you would hear from a person struggling inside. All smiles in front of everyone, but when you are alone, you start to burst into tears thinking why no one can understand.

I know, having anxiety, depression or any kind of mental disorder is a topic that no one is comfortable to talk about. However, sometimes you just have to understand that that is life. Uncountable ups and downs, life is like a rollercoaster. Life is not always filled with happy days. For example, our lives were turned upside down when the Covid-19 pandemic became worldwide. For students, online learning may be tiring. You wake up, get ready, turn your laptop on, attend class, finish your homework, and close the laptop. Seems boring or should I say depressing.

When you are in your darkest days, keep in mind that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. “How? How do I be happy again?” you might asked.

Here are some things you can do. Always remember to have enough sleep. Sleeping is very important. Some people feel anxious because they keep on working without resting. Enough sleep will help you stay focus and feel refreshed. I feel tired and irritated too at times. I would usually take naps, just a short nap will do. It often refreshes myself and makes me feel re-charged again.

“Take a deep breath” Those are words you would hear before you are about to perform or do something important. But taking a deep breath when you feel depressed and anxious will make you feel calm. Through deep breathing, people with depression and anxiety may have clearer minds and thoughts.

Remember, happiness is a choice. Choose happiness. Carrying that burden on your shoulders will not be easy, but you will get through it. Everything will get better.
