I believe that the key to having a good day is starting your day right. The meaning of good can go anyway you want, whether it be a productive day or even just a relaxing one filled with positivity. And as cliche as “starting your day right” sounds, it really is something that deeply affects the way your day goes on many layers – mentally, physically, and emotionally. And all of this, I know this from experience. Sometimes the first thing I do in the morning is look at my phone for three hours without getting out of bed. And consequently, I’m pretty much left with only 12 hours in the day and myself feeling incredibly fatigued.
To try and prevent those days from happening, here are some things we can do to ensure we’re refreshed for the day.
1. Every night, turn off your phone (yes, turn it off all the way) or any other device you use so that you refrain from using it throughout the night and the next morning.
2. Even when you’ve turned it on, make sure to not open social media or any distractions until you’ve finished your morning routine. If you have to, reply to any text messages but leave emails for later in the day,
3. Do one small thing that brings you joy every morning. That could be making a warm cup of coffee or reading a few pages out of a book. This will help you get in the flow of things to prepare for the day,
4. As much as possible, separate work/school life from your personal life throughout the day. This can be not texting friends while working or not responding to emails while eating lunch.
